Photo Gallery #63- Paris By Night

Paris isn't known as the 'City of Lights' by accident- at
night, the city glows, and offers a whole new look at its charms...

Notre Dame.

And the Arc de Triomphe, at the heart of the Champs Elysées.
Sacré Coeur

Paris' incredible hôtel de ville, City Hall, on the banks of the river.

The obligatory tourist pose.
I went walking through the Champs de Mars at night, up to and past the Eiffel Tower.
At the foot, yet again.
Amazing to see such feats of human engineering- a 115-year old 300 meter tall glowing steel monument- compared with life in the developing world- Chad, for example.
The École Militaire and UN Palace.
The balcony of the École is a great place to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from a distance.
Since the millenium celebrations in 2000, the Tower glows every hour at night with sparkling, flickering lights.
The same evening I went to check out La Defense, the high-tech and big-business center on the outskirts of the city. The signature landmark is a modernized version of the Arc de Triomphe, inaugurated several years ago.

Skyscrapers galore.

A view of the new Arc.
