Photo Gallery #60- Postcards from Paris

After almost a year-and-a-half in Chad, it was time for a much-needed
vacation. I'd been to Kribi, Cameroon this summer, which was great, but still
not really getting away. I flew off to Europe for three weeks- my first stop
was Paris. Here, you'll find a few of my favorite photos from the 'City of Lights.'

I think you can probably figure this one out without a caption...

At the base of the Eiffel Tower.
The view from the second (of three) levels- looking out, you can see the Champs de Mars park, and in the distance what I believe is the Montparnasse tower.
Looking out in the other direction- the golden-domed building is the Hôtel des Invalides, the former French military hospital, and home to Napoleon's tomb.

The Basilique de Sacré Coeur, (Sacred Heart Basilica), a huge church on the highest hill in Paris' Montmartre district.
Unfortunately, I've forgotten the name of this building- I believe it's a library, but I could be wrong.
La Cathédrale de Notre Dame de Paris, or "Noter Daym," if you're American.
The Seine, which runs through the heart of the French capital.
Along the river, with the Eiffel Tower in the distance.

The courtyard of the Musée du Louvre, formerly a royal palace.

A view from the Tuilerie Gardens, just beyond the Louvre.

One of the icons of Paris, the world-famous Metro...
