Photo Gallery #60- Postcards from Paris
After
almost a year-and-a-half in Chad, it was time for a much-needed
vacation. I'd been to Kribi, Cameroon this summer, which was
great, but still
not really getting away. I flew off to Europe for
three weeks- my first stop
was Paris. Here, you'll find a few of my favorite photos from
the 'City of Lights.'

I
think you can probably figure this one out without a
caption...

At
the base of the Eiffel Tower. |
|
|
The
view from the second (of three) levels- looking out, you
can see the Champs de Mars park, and in the distance what
I believe is the Montparnasse tower. |
| Looking
out in the other direction- the golden-domed building
is the Hôtel des Invalides, the former
French military hospital, and home to Napoleon's tomb. |

|
The
Basilique de Sacré Coeur, (Sacred Heart
Basilica), a huge church on the highest hill in Paris'
Montmartre district. |
| Unfortunately,
I've forgotten the name of this building- I believe it's
a library, but I could be wrong. |
|
| |
La
Cathédrale de Notre Dame de Paris,
or "Noter Daym," if you're American. |
| The
Seine, which runs through the heart of the French capital. |
|
| |
Along
the river, with the Eiffel Tower in the distance. |
The
courtyard of the Musée du Louvre, formerly
a royal palace.
|
|
|
A
view from the Tuilerie Gardens, just beyond the Louvre.
|
| One
of the icons of Paris, the world-famous Metro... |
