Photo Gallery #44-N'Djamena in July
I
spent almost a month in N'Djamena, working on the project
for the trainees. It was fun to have regular access to the
Internet,
foreign foods, and air conditioning, but when it was time
to head out, I
wasn't exactly disappointed. I did have a good time while
I was there, though.

Those
of us who were in town on the fourth went to celebrate
Independence Day, at the Ambassador's. There had been
an 'official observance' of the 4th on the 1st, strangely
enough, but the actual 4th was much more casual, with
a potluck and pool party.

Monica
too. She, Josh, Kate, and Jonathan had just gotten back
from a vacation in Benin, and told us all about it. |

Normally,
I think Budweiser is awful, but after being in Chad for
almost a year, it was pretty good. |

youngest daughter. |

Zayk,
keeping himself entertained. |

Nelson and his two other boys went for a swim. |

One
of the days while I was working on the CD, I heard a yell,
and Chad came running in... The water heater in the medical
unit had broken a pipe, and water was everywhere. |
| With
mops, buckets, and rags, eventually we got it all cleaned
up. I never knew a water heater could hold so much. |

Yanda,
our computer technician, definitely doing something outside
his job description. |
| We
must've filled each of these garbage cans with dirty water
10 times. |

Just
before I was getting ready to head back to Gaya, Mamadou,
another driver, came pulling in, fresh from a trip out east.
There's no paved road, and the mud was pretty deep. |
