Photo Gallery #42-Ba-Illi, Bessada, and Koumra

While I was waiting to begin a welcome CD project for the new trainees, I had
some downtime, and I took the opportunity to catch a ride on the mail run
with Adji, one of our drivers, and explore virtually the entire south of Chad.

On the way out of N'Djamena heading south, one of those 'only in Chad' sights.

Amazingly, the oil money is being used for something positive, the repaving of the road between N'Djamena and Guelendeng. How long it lasts is anyone's guess...
A familiar sight on the way of NDJ.

Our first stop was Ba-Illi, home to Aaron Hoholik- because of the condition of the road, it took us most of the day to reach his house, and we ended up spending the night.

Aaron's hangar.
And kitchen- a pretty standard Chadian home...
Welcome to Chez Aaron.

We left just after sunrise the next morning, on the way to Bessada, Koumra, and Moundou, via Sarh, an almost 500km trip.
With 300km of the road in this condition, you can see why it'd take awhile.
Stopping for gas, near Sarh.
Finally, around 2:30 PM we arrived at Bessada, the small village Sung-Mun calls home. Her place is pretty nice by PC Chad standards, with semi-regular electricity, running water, a real bathroom, etc.
Unfortunately Adji was in a hurry, and we only had a few minutes to spare before continuing on to Koumra.
Adji took the chance to make sure the Land Cruiser was still feeling healthy...
Checking the oil.
We arrived in Koumra, and spent a little while with Bobby, before heading off to Moundou, the second largest city, for the night.
