Photo Gallery #33-Chez Moi #3, Part I
As
time goes on, I continue to get more and more settled in Gaya-
a
big part of that is putting my house together, slowly but
surely...

Laundry
in the hangar- during the hot season, it's
warm enough to dry clothes in the shade.
|
And
if it's warm enough to dry clothes out of the sun, you
can imagine how hot it must be, which is why I do almost
everything outside, including sleep. |

A
small hearth for the ganoum, and a primitive
sink of my own design, a pit filled with gravel and sand
that works well for draining pasta, dishes, etc. |
My
'kitchen counter,' a tin-topped table- not perfect,
but considering the options here, not all that bad.

A
view of the hangar, with the farfar
(twig door) and a grass mat to keep out goats and sheep. |
An
outdoor view of the hangar, which practically
doubles the size of my house. |

A
new house my landlord is building next door, to house
a few of his children. |

|
An
unconventional use for farfar, as a mounting board
for photos, something I've seen in several PCV houses. |
| The
photos I ask for in my letters usually end up here. |
|
|
My
slightly crooked, but still functional shelf, which works
for toiletries, medical stuff, etc. |
| One
of two desks, which I use when it's actually cool enough
to work indoors, rarely. |
